Building a Vest with Surface Design


Time to get out those tiny bits of fabric, ribbon and lace that were left over from your favorite sewing and quilt projects, but never had the heart to throw away.  Through careful design, composition and a variety of surface design techniques, participants will turn a collection of mismatched pieces of fabric into a beautiful vest.

 2 day class

Students should bring to class the front, back and sides of a vest pattern already cut out for both the outside, lining and flannel batting

Scraps of fabric, ribbon and/or lace

Scissors for fabric

All purpose scissors

Pins

Vanishing marker or any other fabric marking devise

Exacto knife with an #A blade

Black Sharpie Marker

Clear ruler

Sewing Machine

 

$40 materials fee includes some stenciling and stamping materials to bring home as well as paint, brushes, spray bottles and fabric crayons for use in class
