Moonlight Magic - is happening in Shelburne Falls, Friday, November 28 from 4 -9. The town will be lit up to begin the holiday season. We will be open until 8 pm and have many in-store specials. This will also kick off our holiday machine sale. Selected machines will be on sale.

Recipes - I have received some requests for recipes from food served during the shop hop. here they are!

Lenny's roasted red pepper dip - 1 cup roasted red peppers, rinsed and drained, 1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened adn 1 packet (1 ounce) hidden valey original ranch salad dressing and recipe mix. Blot dry red peppers. In a food processor fitted with a metal blade, combine peppers, cream cheese, and salad dressing mix; process until smooth. Spread on baguete slices and enjoy!

Blueberry Streusel - 1 1/2 cups flour,1/2 teaspoon baking powder,1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/2 cup sugar, 1 egg, 1 teaspoon vanilla, 2/3 cup milk, 1 cup blueberries. Topping - 1/2 cup sugar,1/2 cup flour, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, 1/4 cup butter.
measure dry ingredients. Cream butter and sugar. Add egg and vanilla. Add dry ingredients alternately with milk. Spread batter into greased 9 x 9 inch pan adn top with berries. Combine topping ingredients - cut in butter until crumbl. Sprinkle evenly on blueberries. Bake at 375 for 45 - 50 minutes.

Rich Chocolate Chip Toffee Bars - 2 1/3 cups flour, 2/3 cup brown sugar, 3/4 cup butter, 1 egg, slightly beaten, 2 cups chocolate chips, divided, 1 cup chopped nuts(optional), 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk, 1 1/2 cups (10 oz) english toffee bits, divided

Heat oven to 350. Grease 13 x 9 x 2 pan. In large bowl, stir together flour adn brown sugar. Cut in butter with pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add egg, Mix well. Stir in 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips adn nuts. Reserve 1 1/2 cups mixture. Press remaining crumb mixture in bottom of pan. Bake 10 minutes. Pour sweetened milk evenly over hot crust. Top with 1 1/2 cups toffee bits. Sprinkle reserved crumb mixture adn remaining 1/2 cup chips over top. Bake 25 - 30 minutes or until golden brown. Sprinkle with remaining 1/4 cup toffee bits. Cool completely in pan on wire reck. Cut into bars.

Ruth McDowell's Nature Workshops - We are very pleased to announce that we will be offering two workshops by Ruth in 2009. The dates for these classes are April 16 -19, 2009 and August 19 - 23, 2009.  Be sure to check out Ruth's website and see some of her work. The class is Designing from Nature.  The class will begin with an introduction to the methods and techniques that she has found successful in her quilts. Then, using the images the students bring, you will discuss the translation of images from nature into pieced quilts. Each student will begin their own pieced design, using subjects and seaming techniques attractive to them. Individual time with each student will help find options and solutions. Some students will work on developing a design within a repeated block format; others may choose to work from a full size freehand drawing. Level of Skill ; Advanced. The cost for the class is $475.00. Minimum of 10 per class. Register by calling the shop. These classes fill quickly! Below is one example of Ruth's work.

 Closed Mondays - We are closed on Mondays, but open on Monday holidays. Check the calendar on the class page.

 Friday Fabric Sale - Announcing an exciting new sale. Be the first shopper in the store on Friday mornings and choose a bolt of fabric that will be on sale all day. It can be an old favorite or the newest arrival - your choice! You will receive a 20% discount on whatever amount you want to buy and then the bolt will be displayed for the rest of the day. Anyone purchasing that fabric will receive the same 20% discount. *

Parking - We have parking in the back of the building. This is also where our main entrance and exit are. if you are headed west on the Mohawk Trail, pass the building and take the first left.It takes you to the back.Coming from the west, it is the right before the building. Thank you for helping us be considerate of the buisness in the front.

Guild  - The Mohawk Trail Quilter's Guild  meets on the second Monday night. Everyone is welcome to come. Right now the guild has their round robin quilts on display. Be sure to stop by and see how creative these quilts turned out!

Horn Cabinets  - Come and check out the catalog. There are some new models. We have several models on the floor. Comfortable chairs too! 

Super Stitcher Program - We are now a "Super Stitcher" Shop! This means that when
you purchase a book by That Patchwork Place or Martingale & Company, you receive a stamp for each book purchased. Purchase nine and send your card to Martingale for a free book
of your choice! New books are here and during the months of Septmeber and October, we are making the job easier for you! We will have a buy one, get one free on selected books. Both books will get stamped! 

Retreat Weekend  - Our retreat weekend is taking shape and we are looking forward to another good time at the Woodbound Inn in Rindge, NH. The dates this year are February 20-22. More information available at the shop.Limited space so sign up early!

This is Carol's BIG project. She has been hand quilting this piece for some time and made great progress on it during the weekend!

Linus Project - Don't forget that we will be collecting in February for the Linus Project. Details available at the shop.

HQ Home Quilter - Would you like to finish ;your own quilts? We offer a class on the HQ After "graduation" you can sign-up for a "date" to finish your quilt. The HQ now has "groovy boards" to assist in your quilting! They use a stylus that follows a pattern board and creates a pattern easily.  Among them include feathers! These are available along with the rental of the machine.

Simply Sixteen - This machine is like the HQ16 but has no stitch regulator and is lower in cost. It can be upgraded with a stitch regulator at a later date.  Right now we have a special package deal including table!

Financing Packages - We are now able to offer financing packages. We offer a variety of options including no interest options. Call or stop by for more information.  

Scissor Sharpening –A reminder that we offer scissor-sharpening services. Scissors may be brought in and Lenny will sharpen them. He only needs one or two days to return them. The cost is $5.00 a pair.

Machine Repair & Maintenance – Lenny offers machine repair and cleaning. Get that machine in great shape for your sewing projects. If you have questions about your machine give a call and set up an appointment.

Hummingbird Hill Quilting - Tessa Atwood from Wilmington, Vt is ready to help you finish those tops! She has many design choices available and ready to help you choose the perfect quilting for your quilt.
